By now most of us know at least the basics of COVID-19—it spreads easily from person to person; it’s more likely to spread indoors in congregate settings. All of this can seem scary and out of our control. The good news is that there are still things we can do. Regular testing is something within our power to help control the spread of this virus.
When it comes to COVID-19, knowledge is power. The reason it spread so quickly in some cities early on was that people weren’t aware they had the virus. Knowing you have COVID-19 means you can take proper measures to protect the people around you. People who are asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic who test positive can self-isolate before they infect others.
Estimates say about 40% of people with COVID-19 have no symptoms. Meanwhile, even people who do eventually get symptoms may not show them for up to 14 days; the average incubation period—meaning time between exposure to the virus and onset of symptoms—is 4 or 5 days. This means that widespread and regular testing is key to controlling COVID-19, to help prevent people with no symptoms from transmitting it.
Everyone’s availability is different, which is why there is no one-size-fits-all method for COVID-19 testing. At Avalon Lab Solutions, we can schedule you immediately to be tested in two different ways: through drive-in testing at our lab, or an at-home test. In both cases, you’ll receive results within 48 hours. To find out more information or learn about pricing, email [email protected].
